Description of the waterski program

With over 27 years of experience in developing this program, it is one of the safest and most well managed programs of its kind in the country.  This waterski program provides a unique and extremely safe opportunity for individuals with varying degrees of disabilities and abilities to engage in a recreational activity that would otherwise not be possible.  Individuals with spinal cord injury (quadriplegics, paraplegics), amputees, brain injury, Multiple Sclerosis, Muscular Dystrophy, Cerebral Palsy, and visual impairments currently participate in the program every year.  The program currently runs for 8 weeks every summer; one morning per week from June through August.  In 2010 there were 28 individuals with disabilities that participated anywhere from 1 to 8 days resulting in 108 participant days.  This was over a 10% increase from 2009.  There was a dedicated group of over 30 volunteers that directly supported the program at Boulder Reservoir in 2010.

The ability, past experience, and severity of disability are all taken into consideration in custom designing a program for each individual.  We have a variety of different types of skis and cages to provide a custom fit to each individual.
